breed of coaches tutors parents on how to work with schools

This is a great aticle about parent coaching. It discusses what three different coaches who work with parents to help them become more
involved in their children's education. Parent educators by profession, the coaches do...

a variety of work with parents ranging from parenting classes to one on one discussions about specific situations a parent faces in their day to day life. Parent coaches fill a need for parents. The issues that parent coaches deal with are typically things that moms and dads may be stuck with as a parent. The obstacle can be anything like how to get a child to go to bed easily to how can I get more energy to keep going through the day.

Some issues that I work on with mothers who have a baby with complex medical needs on are like the ones mentioned above and also some different ones. We talk about, "how do I find support" or "I feel so alone" and "I need to figure out how to not make myself crazy worrying about whether I am doing enough therapy for my baby," and "What can I do to connect more with my husband?"

Do you have a specific challenge that you face in parenting your child with special needs? Post a comment or email me and let's put our heads together and find some answers!
